today was the second day of the science workshop. met mira at central about 8.10. and got to the place before 8.30. today was chemistry day. it was soo much better than yerterday's activities. we spent the morning watching demo pracs. lots of sparks, booms and bangs. fun fun fun. found out interesting stugg bout fireworks. the black-haired assistant guy was realli into it and reminded me of a classmate. after the demos, we saw a boring video about liquid air, whatever that meant. it was sooooo not amusing and it was realli hard to stay awake and keep my eyes open. i think i serz slept thru part of it coz i dun remember anything after the spraying champagne scene.
then recess came. next was more fun. we were in the lab playing with experiments. we start making our slime and kept freezing and smashing frozen stuff from the liquid nitrogen. it was realli fun freezing the flowers in the liquid nitrogen, then whacking the flower on the bench. the petal kept cracking.
had lunch. then we went back to the lecture room and listened to sum lecture bout chemicals and human errors with chemicals. ive kinda concluded from that lecture that humans are stupid beings wit no respect for others, coz we kept on seeing examples of human stuff-ups causing severe damage to the environment. e.g. chernobyl, bhopal, hindenburg, minamoto bay, sum lake disappearing into a salt mine sumwhere, boston and molasses, etc etc. then we went back to the lab and did sum more experiments. finished off our crappy slime which is a veri dark blue when it was supposed to be purple, saw the carbon snake/pillar again, did sumthing with a bottle which made the inner surface have a silver coating and sumthin to do with thermochemistry.
yea. today was much better than yesterday. a lot less prac than i had anticipated but still much more interesting. i still dun think i belong with the group of kids there. its like "they know their science" and im like "yea...... um.... i dunno wat dis is all about."
